ON LEG FOUR, FROM ARUBA TO PANAMA
At 10am, we all met at the S.V TravelEdge – 3 professional sailers (Anna, Maggie, Sophie), 1 eXXpedition leader (Sally) and 10 ladies from all over the world! We were also introduced to our home for the next 10 nights, S.V TravelEdge. A 72ft yacht all kitted out to run experiments and enough food and supplies for our journey.

We made our way to the new up-cycle centre, opened in Aruba on 12th July 2019. This is a facility which enables households and businesses to bring their rubbish and then re-cycle and up-cycle into finished products. They take pallets and make furniture – an innovative way to reduce waste.

After lunch we were split into groups to conduct a CAP – Circularity Assessment Protocol. We went round the streets of Aruba assessing the amount of waste in a 100 metre by 1 metre range. We all found a large amount of broken glass, plastic straws and plastic bottles and caps. The data was recorded in the Marine Debris Tracker.

We all chatted and spoke about our passion for the environment and continued our chats over dinner and into the late evening. A great first day!
Navarino technology keeps eXXpedition online wherever we go.
