What is Life on Board Like?

Life on board is challenging, unique, and transformational. It’s a real adventure, not a relaxing holiday. You’ll be part of a working crew, not a passenger. You will be hoisting sails, be part of a watch rota (day and night), living life at a 45-degree angle in close quarters, working as a close team.

You’ll also make deep connections with incredible crewmates, learn new skills, and carry out groundbreaking science. You will see and do things that few others on Earth have ever experienced.

What You’ll Leave With

  • Deep, lifelong connections.
  • Strengthened knowledge of the issues and solutions.
  • The energy and belief to drive real change.
  • A clear plan for how to use your unique skills for impact.
  • A completely transformational life experience.

Warning: Some of our crew have made life-changing decisions after their voyages!

A Note on Safety Please be aware that due to the nature of sailing, there is always a capacity for physical or mental injury. When sailing offshore, access to medical support beyond our on-board medical officer may be limited.

Is eXXpedition for me?

If you are passionate about plastic pollution, have a sense of adventure and are keen to direct your skills, talents and superpowers towards impact, then yes!

We’re not looking for one type of person to join our trips, rather a whole community of people with different skills, experiences, perspectives, cultures, roles and backgrounds to come together. We aim to be as inclusive as possible, bringing together diverse, multidisciplinary, multinational crews. Some people have significant sailing experience and others have none.
