And we’re off again! 🌊 For leg two of eXXped And we’re off again! 🌊

For leg two of eXXpedition South Pacific, we’re sailing from the Bay of Islands to Tongatapu - an open ocean crossing powered by science at sea.

After some land-based research, we’ll head offshore, continuously sampling for microplastics across the mid ocean.

We’ll pass the biodiverse Tongan Trench, with hopes of stopping at remote Minerva Reef to explore its underwater world 🐋

We’ll finish in Nuku’alofa, continuing research on land and connecting with local partners.

Follow along to see what the crew gets up to 👀💙

Our first expedition down, with the most incredibl Our first expedition down, with the most incredible crew! ⛵️

From Auckland to the Bay of Islands, it was a week filled with lots of sailing, science and true connection 🌊

Water sampling across the Hauraki Gulf, coastal cleanup on Aotea Great Barrier Island, and conversations that brought new perspectives together.

An inspiring start to our global adventure - tracing ocean plastic back to its sources and working towards solutions that matter 💙

And it’s just the beginning... 🌍

Some moments our crew will never forget… 💙 ⛵️

There were quiet mornings at sea, endless blue horizons, and the gentle rhythm of sailing north 🌊

Like postcards from the ocean, each one a perfect snapshot in time✨

A different pace, and a deeper connection - to the ocean, and to each other.

Our expedition comes at a critical moment for glob Our expedition comes at a critical moment for global ocean health and environmental policy.

One of the priorities of our mission is to engage with policymakers across the globe, strengthening the evidence base and creating the agency and momentum needed to drive action.

We were honoured to be joined by members of the British Consulate in Auckland (@ukinnewzealand) before setting sail, including the Consul General, Sophie Warner-Fog, the Deputy Governor to the Pitcairn Islands, Paul Greenhalgh, and the Director of the British Council, Natasha Beckman.

Before setting sail from Auckland, the crew did a Before setting sail from Auckland, the crew did a tour of Plastic Recycling New Zealand (PRNZ) processing plant.

The facilities have a staggering projected capacity of processing 3,900 tonnes per year by 2027. The site processes post-consumer products into recycled plastic nurdles that are then used for a number of items, ranging from picture frames to coat hangers to construction materials.

Giving waste a new identity is only part of the solution, but innovations like these help keep waste in the value chain for longer, preventing it from immediately entering landfill and the environment.

Today is the day! ⛵️ ✨ We’re setting sai Today is the day! ⛵️ ✨

We’re setting sail on a global, all-women sailing expedition. Over the next year, we’ll be completing 10 expeditions with 10 unique crews travelling to the South Pacific, Arctic, Antarctica, Caribbean and North Pacific.

Starting in Auckland today, the first leg of the journey will take us across the South Pacific, sailing from New Zealand to Tonga. 🌊

This expedition will bring together diverse women from across the world to help fill critical gaps in our understanding of where ocean plastic comes from, tracing pollution back to its sources on land and helping to identify the most impactful solutions for change.

Follow along as we begin this next chapter 💙
